Paul Volpe, a former chief of staff to former Mayor Richard M. Daley and currently vice president of budget and capital finance for theCTA, has been selected as the next Village Manager for Elmwood Park.
Volpe, 49, was one of 37 applicants for the post being vacated by John “Jay” Dalicandro, who announced his retirement earlier this year after 23 years on the job, the western suburban said in a news release Wednesday.
Before serving as Chief of Staff to Mayor Daley, Volpe was the City’s Chief Financial Officer and Budget Director. He also served eight years at the Chicago Department of Aviation and was the Chief of Operations at the Illinois Toll Highway Authority.
Volpe’s selection must be approved by the Village Board. He could start his new duties as early as June 18.
