A new poll commissioned by Democratic congressional candidate Brad Schneider shows him tied with freshman Republican Bob Dold in the North Shore 10th congressional district, with both garnering 39 percent of support..
Illinois Democrats redrew the lines of the state’s congressional districts to give themselves every advantage in this year’s election.
They drew Dold’s Republican home turf of Kenilworth out of the district and added in blue-collar areas such as Round Lake Beach to make the district the most Democrtatic-voting district of any in the United States represented by a Republican.
“The fact that Brad is in a dead heat despite Mr. Dold’s 2-to-1 name identification advantage (79 percent to 35 percent) shows that Democrats are poised to win this seat,” Schneider campaign manager Reed Adamson told supporters in an e-mail.
Republicans are expected to finance a strong defense to help Dold keep the seat.
