Bail was set at $500,000 for a Chicago man charged with felony DUI in a wreck that left a motorcyclist dead Wednesday night.
Buvern Francisco, 33, of the 1800 block of South Hamlin, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 8:03 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Francisco was driving a motorcycle east in the 3700 block of west 16th Street about 7:25 p.m. when the driver of a westbound SUV made an illegal U-turn and went east on 16th Street and struck the motorcycle, police said.
Francisco’s passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Hammond, Ind., was taken to John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County where she was still listed in serious condition Saturday, according to police.
The SUV driver — identified by police as 43-year-old Joe Sneed of the 700 block of North Central Park — was charged with aggravated DUI with an accident resulting in death and aggravated DUI with an accident resulting in great bodily harm.
He was also cited with improper U-turn, driving without a driver’s license, driving without insurance, and misdemeanor DUI, police said.
A Cook County judge on Saturday set bail at $500,000 for Sneed.
