Two teen boys — 14 and 15 — were in critical condition Wednesday night after a shooting in the Southwest Side Marquette Park neighborhood, officials said.
The teens were visiting someone at 9:15 p.m. in the 6500 block of South California when two males approached them. The males asked the boys if they were affiliated with a gang and the boys told them no. The males then shot the boys, police said.
The 14-year-old boy was shot in the chest and hip, while the older boy was shot in the buttocks.
“They were at the wrong place at the wrong time,” one officer said.
One of the shooters is believed to be between ages 17 and 19.
