In one corner of the little garden in the middle of the Children’s Memorial Hospital campus sits a glass box — a terrarium — in honor of Kevin, former Mayor and the late Maggie Daley’s 2-year-old son, who died of complications from spina bifida in 1981. “Kevin’s Garden,” as it’s called, will make the trip to the new Streeterville campus. But it will be reborn into a place where sick, couped-up kids can wander, take a breath and enjoy a little bit of nature. And it has the blessing of Maggie Daley, who helped in the planning.
“It will be accessible so that people with wheelchairs can go out in it,” said Susan Hayes Gordon, a hospital spokeswoman. “It will have a waterfall and beautiful seasonal plantings.” Stefano Esposito
