A man who police saw take a running start before kicking a kitten 15-18 feet, then raise his arms to signal a successful field goal, was sentenced to jail and won’t get his cat back.
Cook County Judge Tommy Brewer on Tuesday sentenced Percy Love to 90 days in jail after finding him guilty of animal cruelty for the Jan. 23 boot of the small black cat, according to Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.
Love, of the 6500 block of South Maplewood, was given credit for 37 days served, officials said.
After officers saw Love kicking the cat in the 6200 block of South Campbell, he told them: “This is my cat, Nightmare. He is tough, we play like that all the time. It’s just a cat,” Chicago Lawn District police said.
