Former Cook County Commissioner Robert Shaw was hospitalized early Tuesday after he fell and injured himself at his home in south suburban South Holland.

Shaw was rushed to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey about 2:30 a.m. after he had a “nasty fall” at his home and suffered a fracture to his upper body, Harvey town spokesman Sean Howard said in a release Tuesday morning.

He is listed in fair condition and is resting comfortably but will likely remain in the hospital for several days, Howard said.

Shaw is the former alderman of Chicago’s 9th Ward and a longtime Chicago politician. Sun-Times Media
