Missing Aurora woman, children, may have been in Indiana

(AURORA) A 29-year-old woman west suburban woman not seen since she left home early Wednesday with her three young sons may have been in northwest Indiana late Thursday, police said Friday morning.

Laureth “Laurie” M. May of the 200 block of Plum Street in Aurora, and her sons Quincy Collins, 4; Oliver Collins, 2; and Spencer Collins, 1, were reported missing by May’s fiancé about 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to Aurora police.

May and her fiancé had an argument about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, which ended when she woke the children and left in her car, a white 2001 Volvo station wagon with Illinois plates 9590986. The vehicle has a pink cancer ribbon on the left rear.

May’s fiancé said she has never behaved in this manner and gave no indications of intending to hurt herself or her children, police said.

A former teacher at a school in La Grange Highlands, detectives believe May might be in the company of one of her former students, a 17-year-old Cicero girl also reported missing shortly after May left Aurora. Cicero police are also working on the case.

Aurora Police said Friday morning they believe, based on credit card records and possible sightings, May and her children were in northwest Indiana “within the past 10-11 hours.”

A credit card may have been used Thursday afternoon in the Gary, Ind. area, Aurora police said Friday morning. The possible sighting was in Hobart, Ind., at a Wal-Mart.

The caller from Hobart indicated she talked directly with May about her three young children, police said. She also indicated there were four other people with May, including one who matched the description of the missing 17-year-old from Cicero.

Their whereabouts were unknown Friday morning and police were trying to confirm the information, working with Hobart authorities to recover security video from the Wal-Mart.

Laureth May is described as white, 5 feet and 135 pounds with red hair, blue eyes and freckles. She was last seen wearing a blue jean jacket with a fur collar and blue jeans.

Her children are all are fair-skinned and black with black hair and brown eyes.

Quincy is 4 feet and 40 pounds, and was last seen wearing blue and red pajamas with cars on them. Both Oliver and Spencer are about 2-feet tall and 30 pounds. Oliver was wearing blue “footie” pajamas with ladybugs on them, while Spencer wore blue “footie” pajamas with snaps in front.
