Drizzle and dense fog could make driving dangerous for motorists on Chicago area roadways early Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Lake, McHenry, Kane and Kendall counties are currently under a dense fog advisory until 9 a.m., according to the weather service. Dense fog in these areas could reduce visibilities to less than a quarter-mile or even near zero in some places.
These low visibilities will make travel dangerous, according to the weather service. Motorist should slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of following distance ahead of their vehicles.
Other Chicago area counties in northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana could also see some patchy, dense fog and reduced visibilities before it clears Thursday morning, according to the weather service.
Rain and temperatures in the upper 30s will continue through the early morning before it clears to a high in the lower 40s later Thursday, forecasters said. Thursday night will be mostly clear and colder, with lows in the upper 20s.
