State child welfare officials are investigating the death of a 4-year-old South Holland boy whose preliminary cause of death was listed as lymphoma, officials said.
Workers from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services have had five separate probes into the home of young Elijah Mims, officials said.
Elijah died Tuesday afternoon. DCFS spokesman Kendall Marlowe said the agency is investigating allegations of neglect against Elijah’s mother.
In 2008, two separate allegations were investigated by DCFS, and both were found to be credible, he said.
