It turns out that a container of beans was to blame for traffic backups and CTA reroutes around Soldier Field on Wednesday morning as emergency crews investigated a “suspicious” package.
Chicago Police Bomb and Arson and Fire Department crews were called at 8:20 a.m. after a suspicious package was found on McFetridge Drive.
Police removed the package and found it was a container of beans.
The CTA temporarily rerouted its No. 146 buses but resumed normal service about 11:20 a.m. Traffic was slowed on Lake Shore Drive — mainly from gapers — south of McFetridge, which was closed to traffic until the area was cleared.
