A man died late Tuesday after being pulled from the Chicago River on the Near South Side.
Responding officers from the police marine unit found the man in the river after he had apparently jumped in near Roosevelt Road around 8:34 p.m., said Ron Gaines, a police news affairs officer.
They pulled him to shore, and he was unresponsive when Chicago Fire Department crews took him to Stroger Hospital, Gaines said.
The man, in his 20s, was later pronounced dead, according to the medical examiner’s office.
