Two women hurt in crash with snow plow

Two people were critically hurt early Tuesday when a snowplow and a vehicle collided in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

The crash happened about 1:03 a.m. at 79th Street and Wentworth Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs.

After the vehicle hit the plow, it spun and hit a light pole, injuring two women inside the car, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.

Fire Media Affairs said both were taken in serious-to-critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, but police said their conditions had stabilized as of early Tuesday.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
