A broken gas line that shut down State Street near a Columbia College site in the South Loop Monday morning was secured with no evacuations, fire officials say.

A gas line ruptured about 11:15 a.m. near State Street and 16th Street, prompting a Level 1 HazMat.

Police shut down State Street from 16th Street to Roosevelt Road as crews responded.

By about 11:40 a.m., the HazMat was secured with no building evacuations, Fire Media Affairs said. No injuries were reported.
