18 displaced by Albany Park fire

An extra-alarm blaze early Thursday displaced 18 people in the Northwest Side Albany Park neighborhood.

The fire started at 4:15 a.m. on the second floor of a two-story apartment building at 4725 N. Central Park Ave. and spread to another two-story building, according to Fire Media Affairs. A second alarm was called and the fire was extinguished by 4:40 a.m.

The fire burned the rear porches of both buildings. Fire Media Affairs said. No injuries were reported.

The Chicago Red Cross sent a team to help those affected by the two-alarm blaze, the agency said on its official Twitter feed early Thursday.
