An Amber Alert issued for a 2-year-old Wisconsin girl has been canceled after the girl and her father were found in Chicago.
Iryana K. Vaughn, 2, was abducted about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Racine Street in Racine, Wis., according to the alert. The alert was canceled at 5:47 a.m., and the girl is safe and unhurt, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said. She was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital at the University of Chicago as a precautionary measure.
Police said the child was taken by her father, Iryin K. Vaughn who is wanted for questioning in connection with the homicide of the child’s mother.
According to a press release from the Racine Police Department, officers were called to 900 Racine St. in Racine on an assault call and found a 27-year-old woman dead in the home. Police learned that Iryin Vaughn left the home with Iryana before officers had arrived and put out the Amber Alert for Vaughn’s vehicle, a 1998 blue Ford Explorer with an Illinois License plate 1320893.
The vehicle was found in the 9800 block of South Yates Ave., and Iryin Vaughn was taken into custody, Perez said. He did not know whether he would be extradited immediately or processed into central booking in Chicago.
