A 77-year-old woman was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and some other residents were displaced early Tuesday after a fire in a South Loop high-rise building, officials said.
The fire at the high-rise in the 800 block of S. Park Terrace was first reported about 12:40 a.m., police said. The blaze was extinguished about 30 minutes later at Oaks Dearborn Park, a residence for low-income seniors, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
