Red Line trains resumes after reports of smoke in subway

Red Line trains have resumed normal service after being rerouted Tuesday night after unfounded reports of smoke in subway in the South Loop.

The fire department responded about 7:30 p.m. to reports of smoke in the subway near the Roosevelt station, according to Fire Media Affairs.

The CTA said it rerouted Red Line trains to the elevated tracks between the Fullerton and Cermak/Chinatown stations.

The Red Line trains has resumed normal service, but residual delays may occur after equipment problems, according to the CTA.

Responding firefighters found no smoke and nobody was injured, the fire department said.
