A Chicago Police officer was Tasered and another fell and fractured his knee in a scuffle with a teenager they wanted to question about a possible curfew violation over the weekend, authorities said.

Dashawn James flailed his arm and legs when police caught up to him after he tried to run away near the 6500 block of South California Sunday night, assistant Cook County state’s attorney Erin Antonietti said.

As a result, one officer fell to the ground, cutting his chin and fracturing his knee, Antonietti said.

James, 19, kept resisting and allegedly began wrestling with the officer who tried to handcuff him.

That officer was Tasered on his arm when James tried to get control of his electroshock weapon, Antonietti said.

The officer who hurt his knee required surgery, Antonietti said.

Both officers have since been treated and released from an area hospital.

Antonietti said James gave a false name to police when they initially tried to question him as did someone who came out of a house where James and a friend were standing.

The teenager currently has a warrant for his arrest in Arkansas in connection to aggravated robbery, theft and fleeing charges, Antonietti said.

Judge Donald Panarese Jr. on Tuesday held James without bail on the warrant. James was given $300,000 bail for his arrest here on aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and disarming a police officer charges.

James was born in Chicago but was raised in Texas, an assistant public defender said. He has been staying with a cousin for the last six months on the South Side.
