Hobart, Ind., man dies in accident at U.S. Steel’s Gary Works

A Hobart, Ind., man died at U.S. Steel’s Gary Works complex after becoming wedged between two rail cars while working at the steel-making complex Monday night. Michael M. Shoemaker, 55, died of blunt force trauma as a result of the industrial accident, Lake County, Ind., coroner’s spokesman P.J. Adams said. The Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
