A man and woman were found dead inside their Oak Lawn residence Monday morning in what police are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide.
Mary Mauger, 47, was shot in the head, and Kenneth Borkowski, 53, apparently shot himself in the head at their home in the 9400 block of Tulley Avenue, according to police.
Mauger and Borkowski were pronounced dead on the scene at 11:05 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
Police Division Chief Mike Kaufmann said officers found the bodies about 8:30 a.m., after making a well-being check at the house at the request of family members. No suicide note was found, police said.
The couple had lived at the home for several years, police said. They said the couple did not have children, but Borkowski had two children from a prior marriage and grandchildren.
No one else was at the house when the shootings took place, Kaufmann said, adding that the couple were seen by neighbors between 7 and 7:30 a.m.
Neighbors told police that there was no evidence of any problems in the relationship, and they did not hear the gunshots. Police had never answered a call at that address, Kaufmann said.
He said Borkowski worked as an electrician and Mauger at a law firm in Burr Ridge.
