Five people escaped a vehicle Sunday after a rollover wreck left them in a watery ditch on the side of the road near south suburban Posen.
The single-car crash happened around 5:15 a.m. on Interstate 57 near mile marker 349, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Timothy Tippet said. The vehicle rolled over in the northbound lanes and landed on the right side of the road in a watery ditch, Tippet said.
He said the passengers were able to escape, likely by climbing through the windows to safety.
All were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at area hospitals.
