An Oak Park man died after he either jumped or fell from a moving vehicle Saturday evening on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.
The man, 55, was a passenger in a car in the northbound express lanes of I-90/94 near 45th Street at 4:30 p.m. when he left the car, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Timothy Tippet said.
He was pronounced dead at 4:57 p.m. at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The driver of the car stopped shortly after the incident and remained near the scene when authorities arrived, Tippet said.
It was not immediately known if the man was struck by any other vehicles once he hit the ground, Tippet said. The medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy Sunday.
The express lanes were closed until almost 6 p.m. while State Police conducted an investigation, which continued later Saturday night.
