Authorities said two human skulls found in rural McHenry County appear to have been dumped there, and the community need not be worried about any imminent danger.
The skulls don’t have any flesh or hair attached, and they were discovered Wednesday sitting on top of the thin layer of snow covering the ground in the 1500 block of Cherry Valley Road in Bull Valley, which is near Woodstock.
“They’re clean to the point they almost look bleached,” McHenry County Coroner Marlene Lantz said. “It looked like they had been moved from somewhere else.”
Police said they don’t believe the skulls have an relation to any open missing persons investigations.
