Two pit bulls attacked a 63-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman Monday evening in west suburban Elmhurst.
Officers responded at 5 p.m. to a call of a dog attacking people at a home in the 600 block of Kenilworth, according to an Elmhurst police release.
One pit bull was struggling with Robert Moore, 63, on the front porch of the home, the release said. A second pit bull was in the front yard.
Officers shot a pit bull while coming to the aid of Moore, the release said. An officer attempted to subdue the other dog but the animal turned to attack other officers and was shot in self-defense.
Moore was taken in “stable” condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with injuries to his legs and arms and, the release said. Patricia Koprowski, 70, was treated and released from Elmhurst Hospital after suffering a dog bite to her arm.
The dogs were taken to the DuPage County Animal Care and Control.
