Two young children were killed in a fire on the Far South Side early Tuesday, officials said.
The fire near 130th Street and Daniel Drive started about 3:15 a.m., summoning police and fire crews to the scene, police said.
A 3-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy died following the fire in the 300 block of East 130th Street, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Several other people were taken to local hospitals following the blaze but their conditions were not immediately known, a police spokesman said, citing preliminary information.
A team from the Chicago Red Cross is also headed to the blaze to assist those affected, the agency said, and crews remain on scene early Tuesday.
