Dense fog and a chance for rain or even snow could hamper commuters in some parts of the Chicago area Monday morning.
Motorists may experience visibilities of less than one-quarter mile this morning, especially in the western and northern suburbs of Chicago, according to the National Weather Service.
A dense fog advisory lasts until 9 a.m. for Cook, Kane, DuPage, McHenry and Lake counties, according to the weather service. The fog could make travel hazardous, and motorist should slow down and leave plenty of following distance.
The fog will burn off by mid-morning, but the area could see rain and a chance of light snow in the afternoon, according to the weather service. Chance of precipitation Monday is 100 percent but not much snow will accumulate.
Monday’s high will reach the mid-40s before falling into the lower 20s overnight with wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour.
