A Chicago man who pleaded guilty to the cruel treatment of a horse in Will County last year is in trouble again for posing as an armed security guard at what he said was a “family party.”
Officers said they saw 31-year-old Rashaud N. Branscomb leave a garage Dec. 17 in the 4900 block of Prairie Avenue in Chicago decked out in a “Special Task Force” and “B&W Security” vest. Records show he was carrying a replica gun loaded with blank rounds, an expandable baton, pepper spray and pink handcuffs.
Branscomb also wore body armor and carried a “fugitive recovery agent” badge, records show. When officers asked him for his credentials, he told them he didn’t have any, police said.
Branscomb pleaded guilty last year to the cruel treatment of animals. Prosecutors said he left a sick horse named Sonny without food or water on property in the 25400 block of Stoney Island Avenue in Crete in October 2009.
They’ve asked a judge to revoke the probation he received in exchange for his guilty plea in that case.
