A man was “grazed” by a freight train in west suburban Villa Park — and suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The two-engine Union Pacific freight train, on its way from Denver to Chicago, struck the pedestrian at 10:54 p.m. Tuesday, said Mark Davis, a spokesman for the railroad.
The 28-year-old Villa Park man suffered minor injuries after the train grazed him, police said. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday, police said.
Davis said the man had non-life-threatening injuries, “a broken arm and possibly some broken ribs.”
The freight train had two locomotives and 74 empty auto-carrying cars, Davis said.
Metra trains that use the Union Pacific tracks in the area were delayed for more than an hour.
