A man broke into Avondale home, tied up the residents at gunpoint and took pictures of them before fleeing with jewelry and money Saturday morning on the Northwest Side.
The man entered the home in the 3000 block of North Sawyer at 6:15 a.m., according to a community alert from Grand Central Area detectives.
The burglar displayed a handgun, duct-taped the hands, mouth and eyes of two people inside the home and then took photographs of them, police said.
The man ransacked the apartment and took jewelry and money, the alert said.
The suspect is described as African-American, 5-feet-10 and 180-pounds and was wearing a black knit cap, blue jacket with white stripes and a black backpack, the alert said.
Nobody was in custody Saturday night.
