After drawing editorial cartoons for the Daily Northwestern (Northwestern University), I began working for the Sun-Times in 1981. Hired as full-time cartoonist in 1984. I've filed cartoons for the Sun-Times from the Soviet Union, Hungary, Ireland and Cuba. I've covered five political conventions and a Super Bowl. I've been interviewed about my work on the Today Show, the NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Good Morning America and CNN.

Major honors include the Pulitzer Prize, Illinois Journalist of the Year, the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Cha Award (twice), the International Salon of Cartoonists Award, the John Fischetti Editorial Cartooning Award, The Herman Kogan Award for Journalism, the Chicago Association of Black Journalists Award for Outstanding Commentary.

A Graduate of the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, Massachusetts ) I was recently honored with the school's Sanctae Crucis Award. My work is distributed by Universal Press Syndicate.

I have been happily married for nine years to my wife Missy and we are the proud parents of at least five children.
