N BC 5 CHICAGO and V-103 are hosting a private launch party for the incomparable Steve (“I got 14 jobs” just kiddin’) Harvey, whose new nationally syndicated daily talk show debuts at 2 p.m. Sept. 4 on Channel 5. The stellar event is Aug. 22 at the Hard Rock Cafe with the awesome R&B artist Jeffrey Osbourne performing. Hey, welcome to Chicago, Steve, with your dapper/elegant/debonair/suave/too smooth and cool self.

I just wish more young men would follow your lead — they would be viewed by the world in a different light instead of wearing their pants on the ground!

Yeah, I said it!

HERE IS a wonderful response from Mayor Rahm Emanuel on my retirement: “For over 43 years, Stella Foster has shined a light onto Chicago’s social and cultural scene and in the process, became one of our brightest lights. Her exceptional insight into our city elevated her to be an enduring Chicago institution, much like her mentor, Irv Kupcinet. The wit, wisdom and candid commentary of her column has earned her the fond affection of everyone who has come into contact with her, especially her fellow Chicagoans. I wish her a healthy, happy and restful retirement.”

Thanks, Mr. Mayor, you have good taste! Ha!

SO MANY media friends have been beating a path to my Sun-Times door (Robin, Marion, etc.) and I can only say thanks for caring. The latest, WGN-Channel 9’s Bob Jordan’s interview airing on the 5 p.m. news Thursday. The same day, The Crusader newspaper will run an interview penned by brilliant reporter Wendell Hutson.
