C UBBIES GALORE: Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster and wife Jenny are hosting the Third Annual “Dempster Foundation Casino Night” May 9 at the Palmer House Hilton. “American Idol” finalist Crystal Bowersox and local crooner John Vincent, who is a mainstay at the Ditka Restaurant, will entertain the guests. The dealers will be most of the Cubs players including Geovany Soto, Randy Wells, Starlin Castro, Kerry Wood and Darwin Barney.

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT, star of TV’s “Client List,” reportedly is smitten with her co-star Colin Egglesfield. . . . Pop singer Katy Perry now dating Florence + the Machine’s Robert Ackroyd. . . . “The Iceman Cometh” opens Thursday at the Goodman with Brian Dennehy and Nathan Lane.THE MUSIC SET:

The fabulous Temptations with Dennis Edwards will perform Mother’s Day — May 13 — at Christ Universal Temple with saxophonist Ray Silkman. . . . The bootyful Nicki Minaj brings her Pink Friday Tour July 16 to the Chicago Theatre and will launch her own fragrance this fall. . . . Nan Mason & Terry Higgins at the Drake Friday and at Twelvewest on Thursdays.

ACTRESS/Playwright Sarah Jones will be the special guest at the Shriver Center benefit event Friday at Northwestern’s Thorne Auditorium. WBBM-Channel 2’s Bill Kurtis and his sweetie, producer Donna LaPietra, will co-emcee.

CNN/TV ONE’s political host Roland Martin was in town Monday to conduct an interview with Gov. Pat Quinn at the Alliance of Business Leaders & Entrepreneurs (ABLE) meeting/reception at the Museum of Contemporary Art. While here, Martin and wife Jacquie dined with Chicago Skye star Swin Cash at the Cheesecake Factory, and singer Jennifer Hudson was at another table. By the way, Quinn will speak May 14 at the City Club of Chicago’s breakfast. It sold out in less than an hour.

THE CS mag (Chicago Social) Men’s issue is out and the “Men of Style” article includes the Bears coach Lovie Smith, Adam Beltzman, co-owner of the Haberdash store and financier Anthony Contrucci, who is still celebrating the birth of baby girl, Aspen, with wife, Melissa. The men of style are hosting a private bash to celebrate the issue that has British actor Hugh Dancy (hubby of actress Claire Danes), on the cover May 10 at the Ritz-Carlton Residences.

STELLAR AWARDS: WLS-Channel 7 boss Emily Barr and the station are honored by the League of Women Voters of Illinois this week. . . . “Windy City Live” co-hosts Ryan Chiaverini and Val Warner hosts the Publicity Club of Chicago luncheon May 9 at the Palmer House Hilton. Among the honorees, Michelle Flowers Welch, founder of Flowers Communications, getting the Lifetime Achievement award. . . .
