Glasgow easily wins fifth term

Incumbent Will County State’s Attorney candidate James Glasgow cruised to a fifth term in office Tuesday, leading challenger Dave Carlson 56 percent to 44 percent with most precincts reporting.
“I just look forward to continuing to develop new programs for prevention and continue to maintain the high level of excellence in the courtroom that my attorneys have shown,” Glasgow said.
In his first shot at an elected office, Carlson failed to overtake Glasgow, with 290 of 310 precincts reporting.
“Obviously, I’m disappointed,” Carlson said. “But I’m very proud of what we did. We raised issues, and I hope he changes the way he runs that office because of the issues we raised.”
Glasgow, 61, of Joliet, is a married father of five who has served as state’s attorney for 16 years — from 1992 to 2000 and from 2004 to the present.
His campaign got a bump from two high-profile convictions at the end of this summer — Drew Peterson and Christopher Vaughn.
Carlson, 41, of Plainfield, is an attorney in private practice in Joliet. The married father of two also has been a prosecutor.
