America, meet Joe the plumber

October 16, 2008

His name is Joe, and he is a plumber.

But Joe Wurzelbacher never expected for all of America to come to know him as "Joe the Plumber."

John McCain mentioned Wurzelbacher as someone who voiced displeasure with Barack Obama's economic policies near Toledo, Ohio.

Video shows Obama replying, ''It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance at success, too.''

When Obama began talking about his billionaire "friend, Warren Buffett" paying more taxes under Obama's proposals, McCain complained: "We're talking about Joe the Plumber."

Wurzelbacher said he still thinks Obama's plan would keep him from buying the business that employs him.

About McCain: ''He's got it right as far as I go.''

But Wurzelbacher didn't say who was getting his vote.
