The cost to attend the University of Illinois will go up next year, but officials aren’t saying by how much.
Officials plan to set tuition at a Board of Trustees meeting in Chicago next week. Details of the proposal weren’t released with other information the meeting’s agenda Wednesday.
However, officials are proposing increases in room and board charges that range from 2 percent at the school’s Urbana-Champaign campus to 2.5 percent at its Chicago campus. Costs for a standard, double-room at Urbana-Champaign would rise from $9,452 to $9,688, while at Chicago, it would increase from $9,862 to $10,059.
Student fees will stay about the same — $1,448 at UIC, $1,441 at Urbana-Champaign — at least for now. But health and transportation fees won’t be voted on until March, meaning costs could rise further.
