Three Illinois universities and three liberal arts colleges are rated among the 100 best values in private higher education.
Kiplinger said it ranks the schools based on which best exemplify excellent academics while keeping costs to a minimum and other factors including faculty-student ratios and SAT scores.
The best value private universities in the area:
