DePaul journalism class: All the news fit to Tweet

September 2, 2009

DePaul University will offer a journalism class this fall focused on Twitter.

The class is called "Digital Editing: From Breaking News to Tweets."

It will focus on how to confirm and evaluate reports by citizen journalists, particularly in cases of breaking news. The class will also help students learn how to sort through information on the Web for story tips and context.

University officials in Chicago say the class at DePaul's College of Communications will give students "cutting-edge knowledge" in the rapidly changing field of journalism.

About 24,000 students attend DePaul at several Chicago area campuses.
