Chicago Public Schools will refresh employees on emergency management plans as a result of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that left 20 students dead in Newtown, Conn., Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Sunday.
All CPS schools have written emergency management procedures and CPS CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett and school principals will review the plans and refresh employees on procedures, Emanuel said at Ruiz Elementary School.
“Just as a level of precaution for our children and our parents and our teachers and our principals and everybody that’s involved,” Emanuel said. “Obviously your librarians, your engineers, your kitchen staff so everybody knows the role to play to keep our kids safe.”
