Updated: November 16, 2011 1:56PM

A man wielding a sawed-off shotgun robbed several Red Line passengers early Saturday at a Far North Side station just steps away from Loyola University Chicago, police said.

The suspect was standing on the platform at the Loyola Red Line station, 1200 N. Sheridan Rd., when he pulled the sawed-off shotgun out of a backpack and began demanding cell phones from people, according to police.

He got away with six phones, including some smartphones, police said.
