Charges are pending against a woman who allegedly threatened employees with an inert hand grenade in an attempt to rob a Lincoln Park drug store Wednesday afternoon.
The woman attempted to rob the drug store in the 2000 block of North Clark Street about 2 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.
She used the grenade as part of the hold-up attempt, but police discovered it was not a live device, a Near North District sergeant said.
She remains in custody awaiting charges early Wednesday, the sergeant said. The suspect is an adult but her age was not immediately known.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
