Two shot, killed in gang-related slaying

Police are searching for the guman responsible for an apparently gang-related double murder early Sunday in the South Side Marquette Park neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 1:05 a.m. near the intersection of West 60th Street and South Albany Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

A gunman approached two men in their 20s and fired multiple shots, striking both men in the head, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.

Juan Guzman, 24, of the 5600 block of South Troy Street, and Santos Rodriguez, 22, of 5926 S. Albany Ave., were dead on the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The shooting appears to be gang-related, according to Gaines, who said no one was in custody Sunday morning.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
