Two teens were shot Wednesday night in south suburban Ford Heights, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s police.
It happened about 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and Diplomat Lane, according to Liane Jackson, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office.
The victims, 16 and 17, suffered non life-threatening injuries and were taken to St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights, according to Jackson.
Cook County Sheriff’s Police gangs teams, evidence technicians and detectives were on the scene.
Sheriff’s police took a suspect into custody shortly after the shooting, according to Jackson, who said the investigation is continuing Thursday morning.
