Woman charged with DUI in fatal Oak Park expressway crash

A Cicero man died Monday, more than a week after he was struck and critically injured on the Eisenhower Expressway. A 61-year-old Chicago woman involved in the crash been charged with DUI, according to State Police.
Michael Villanueva, 25, was injured in the Aug. 14 crash in the westbound lanes of the expressway (I-290) near mile marker 23 in Oak Park, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
He was standing outside his vehicle, which had crashed into a wall near Ridgeland Avenue, a passing GMC Terrain struck him about 3:35 a.m., Illinois State Police Master Sergeant Jason LoCoco said.
A 61-year-old Chicago woman driving the SUV stayed at the scene, LoCoco said. She was charged with DUI following a preliminary investigation, but her name was not immediately available Tuesday morning.
The man was initially taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in critical condition, LoCoco said.
Villanueva, of Cicero, was pronounced dead at the west suburban hospital at 10 a.m. Monday, according to the medical examiner’s office.
