Bond was denied Wednesday for a man charged with the fatal stabbing of his mother outside her Northwest Side bar and considered a suspect in his father’s fatal stabbing the same night.

Cezar Henry Waskowski, 31, was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm in connection with the death of his mother, Henryka Waskowski, according to police.

Cezar Waskowski, of the 3700 block of North Kilpatrick, appeared Wednesday before Cook County Judge Ramon Ocasio III, who ordered him held without bond and set a preliminary hearing for June 27, according to Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Andy Conklin.

Waskowski is also a suspect in his father’s death, but has not been charged, police said.

His father, 73-year-old Cezar Waskowski, was discovered fatally stabbed Monday afternoon in his home in the 3700 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. A Tuesday autopsy confirmed he died of multiple stab and incise wounds, and the death was ruled a homicide.

Sources said the body of the elder Waskowski was discovered while police were investigating the early Monday stabbing death of 67-year-old Henryka Waskowski outside her bar -- Henryka’s -- about 2 a.m. in the 5700 block of West Irving Park Road.

Police said Henryka Waskowski was chased down the street and stabbed, along with a man employed at the bar who tried to intervene.

That 34-year-old employee told police a man believed to be Waskowki’s relative began to chase them as they walked near the bar at 5703 W. Irving Park Rd.

The relative then took out a knife and allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times, including in the neck.

Henryka Waskowski, of 6401 W. Berteau, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 3 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said. A Monday autopsy confirmed she also died of multiple stab wounds. Her death was also ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

The employee was hospitalized for a minor stab wound to the back, but was later released, police said.

The victims were married, police said, but records indicate they lived at different addresses.
