ESPN’s Harry Teinowitz pleads guilty to DUI

ESPN radio personality Harry Teinowitz pleaded guilty to DUI on Thursday and will avoid jail time after being sentenced to conditional discharge and community service.
Teinowitz was sentenced to 18 months of conditional discharge — which is similar to probation — and 240 hours of community service, according to Cook County State’s Attorneys office spokesman Andy Conklin. Teinowitz must also take part in a victim impact panel and attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, Conklin said.
On March 4, Teinowicz, 50, was pulled over by Skokie police after a witness called 911 to report him driving erratically. Teinowitz got on the Edens Expressway at Addison and almost struck the witness’s car several times, police said. The witness told police Teinowitz swerved across all lanes of traffic; police said he swerved to the right side of the road and almost struck the curb before they pulled him over.
Teinowitz had a blood alcohol level of .13, above the legal limit of 0.08, police said.
Teinowitz was suspended by ESPN, but returned to the air on May 11.
