A man was killed in an apparent gang-related shooting Friday night on the Southwest Side.
The man -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as 19-year-old Luis Cordova -- was shot in the head and shoulder about 10:05 p.m. Friday in the 2600 block of West 47th Street, police said.
Prior to the shooting, a man exited a dark sport-utility vehicle, approached the deceased’s vehicle in the alley and an argument ensued, police said. The man from the SUV then pulled a handgun and shot the man.
Friends initially took the wounded man to Mount Sinai Hospital. Cordova, of the 2200 block of West 21st Place, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 10:12 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said.
The gunman fled after the shooting and is not in custody early Saturday.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Saturday.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
