20-year-old man shot in Humboldt Park dies

An man who was shot in the abdomen Thursday night in the West Side Humboldt Park neighborhood died early Friday.

The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Thursday in the 4100 block of West Potomac Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.

James Williams, 20, was pronounced dead at 2:07 a.m. Friday at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Unconfirmed dispatch reports indicate the shooting may have been a drive-by.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating.
