Woman found murdered in Woodlawn apartment

A woman was found murdered inside her Woodlawn apartment Monday night on the South Side, police said.

Police found the woman about 8 p.m. inside her apartment in the 1500 block of East 65th Street, said police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines, citing preliminary information.

She suffered traumatic head injuries and detectives are investigating the death as a murder, police said.

The woman, 46, was found by her brother in a bathroom in the apartment had apparently been bludgeoned to death, police said. Relatives forced entry into the apartment and found her on the floor, police said.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody.
