A man wanted in Florida on charges of fleeing the scene of a fatal accident was arrested Friday in a South Loop hotel.
Adam Shepard, 30, of Topeka, Kansas allegedly went on the run after crashing his 2005 Acura into 35-year-old Spencer Schott in Jacksonville Beach on Jan. 22.
Police recovered the Acura in Topeka a week later — and arrested Shepard on a warrant without incident at the Best Western hotel at 1100 South Michigan early Friday evening, police said.
Cook County Judge Ramon Ocasio III denied Shepard bail Sunday. He is due back in court Monday and faces extradition to Florida.
